“I am the sole author of the dictionary that defines me.” -Zadie Smith
Braveheart, a journal practice (jots on a calendar, collage, hand-written entries, doodles, etc.) helps us to know ourselves, and to heal and expand.
What we chronicle (and mentally process) provides us with snapshots of our needs, desires, worth and progress.
- This helps us to identify specific patterns, thoughts and habits within our ongoingness, as we cycle (like the 🌙 moon) through our phases of living.
- This empowers us to know more about our desires.
- This also helps us to embrace our worth.
Putting pen-to-paper + dated entries (in whatever form that is doable) helps us to identify specific patterns, thoughts and habits within our cycles of living.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” -Viktor Frankl*
*I always research and verify the quotations I include in my creative work. This particular quote has quite a story behind it; I agree with Brené Brown and this is what Viktor Frankl Institute offers about the quote origin.
Setting aside minutes of time creates a space between what is happening within us and in within our living.
- That space is where we experience the power to choose our response.
- That space is where come to know ourselves, Braveheart. 🩷
- And in our response lies our growth and freedom—along with the potential for new options.
🩷 Thank you kindly for your presence here, Braveheart.
