[solstice] inviting winter in

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape — the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.

Andrew Wyeth

  • Summer, and the beginning of shortened times of daylight, in the Southern Hemisphere (currently tilted toward the sun).

For this seasonal change, let’s be attentive to what we want (and need), and what has waited long enough.

  • However, please remember: each day offers us 24 hours that can serve as our Day One. And each hour offers us 60 opportunities to begin again, to decide and to act; to pause and reflect; to conclude, release and change course.

When you have to make a choice and don’t make it, that is in itself a choice.

William James

Braveheart, as we live the various seasons of our different roles and life experiences, it is vital to notice the clues of our wishes and our jealousy (envy) — indications of how we desire to live differently.

Slow is fast enough.

When we want* something — we must then redirect our attention, time and energy to the teeny-tiny, micro-movements of action to live differently in order to experience it.

  • To live differently we must identify and evaluate the patterns of living that formed our existing habits and beliefs — and then begin to faithfully alter and rewrite as necessary.
  • The patterns, emotions and thoughts rooted in our past roles and experiences generously offer us lessons and foundations to add on to, reframe or (sometimes) tear down and build anew.

New seasons in nature are opportunities for us to transition into the new seasons (life choices and stages) awaiting us.

The psyches and souls of women have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul-place…

Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Braveheart, let’s self-compassionately give attention to what we want and abide in our soul-place. And let’s allow time and space for wonder and curiosity, wandering and rest.

Thank you kindly for your presence here, Braveheart.

I appreciate your interest and support.

~love & good wishes~
