“Paying attention to the rhythms of the natural world helps us to recognize the places within us that call for blossoming, fruitfulness, releasing, and resting.” -Christine Valters Paintner
Braveheart, giving our attention to the sky (moon phases, sun rises/sets, weather patterns and other sky-view events) can serve as an insightful, meditative practice.

It is a healing and restorative practice to be “as the sky is to the weather”โto hold steady (and abide in the expansive space we need) amidst whatever โ๏ธโ๏ธโก “weather” comes:
“[Equilibrium]โitโs the kind of state of mind that cannot be perfumed in any way by anything that happens outside you. This kind of confidence that comes from there is like the confidence of the skyโฆ [The] sky sees the impermanence of the clouds, and the impermanence of the rainbows, and you have to develop an inner state of mind thatโs as impervious to all the good shit and bad shit that happens to you as the sky is to the weather.” -Caroline McHugh
“I think humans might be so uncomfortable with transition periods because we don’t give ourselves the right to be lonely and uncomfortable …” -Mari Andrew
๐ Sky meditations (abiding in stillness and listening in-spirit) are a major part of my creative practiceโand especially helpful during the [uncomfortableness] of transition ๐ periods.
โ๏ธ๐โ๏ธ Each and every day the sky offers us new views and changing views, reminding us that everything changes, transitions and cycles.
- ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ For August, the resource focus is [meaning and personal values] along with a focus on [being open and curious about the stories we tell ourselves].
- August guide words โ๏ธ
- I have been holding space in the Now & discomfort resilience along with devoting time to my “summer residency” and prioritizing time to check in with myself.
- This prompted me to see the value + meaning of a brief slow-reading project of Mari Andrew’s book, My Inner Sky during the remaining days of August. โจ๐โจ
โค๏ธ Braveheart, meaning is not in what we have, it is in what we are seeking. โ Meaning is what stabilizes us when we are in ๐ transition.

When I am experiencing something unfamiliar, having a mini-project as a starting point fosters stillness and my ongoingness.
๐ And while I would love to tell you I will complete this mini-project of reading + sharing from this book … ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ I have no idea what my energies will be like as I go through radiation โข๏ธ treatments during the next two weeks. And, [freedom] is my guide words for 2026. ๐ช
“A whole, beautiful life is only made possible by the wide spectrum of feelings that exist between joy and sorrow. I hope this book empowers you to transform your experiences into something meaningful, and find light and beauty in your darkest times.” –Mari Andrew

“When I finally gave up positive thinking for present thinking, thatโs when I really began not only to get comfortable with this transitional period, but to see the beauty in it.” Mari Andrew
Mari Andrew offers a softer way of moving through transitional times, and a “resounding case for why sometimes you have to put yourself in the path of magic” and savor ๐”rainbows and giant cumulonimbus โ๏ธโ๏ธ clouds that look like friendly ancient grandfathers” as we choose to live what she refers to as “the full menu” of everything we have available to us.
Today the moon is ๐ waxing, it is โ Day 88/100 of my second 100-Day Project for this year, (theme: Benevolence, Wonder and Meaning).
- These reading notes will continue (hopefully) daily through Day 100/100 and until August 31. ๐
What does this have to do with right brain planning?
Showing up for ourselves daily-ish and setting aside โฐ time and space on a regular basis for both tangible and intangible processing is how we redirect our energies + identify our desires + get ๐ clarity.
- Right brain planning is a practice that invites us to devote โฐ time and ๐ attention to expression and a dated chronicle of our personal dataโ๐ highs, lows ๐ and in-betweens ๐โ to assist us in our self-awareness and ongoingness.
- This includes notes from slow-reading books about creativity, self-discovery and healing + jotting down ways to live more of what we desire from those insights. ๐
Thank you kindly for your presence here, Braveheart. ๐
I appreciate your interest and support.

โญ๏ธ I am an artist and curator; I am one who communicates with color, found words and collage, inky marks and doodles as I cycle like the moon (as my calendar), chronicling oracles and abiding with the sky as a meditation.
