[week 3/52 review] beginner’s mind

My Week 3/53 page collage includes the lunar phase and weekly art marker; found words that created a message of guidance and affirmation; art from packaging (fruit stickers; yogurt; a pocket mirror); swirls inspired by Lynda Barry (my versions differ a bit); red Washi tape (red is the color prompt for January from the 2024 Kit).

There can be no growth if we do not remain open and vulnerable to what is new and different.

Right brain planning + tracking the details of each week helps me focus on my priorities.

The awe-inspiring, the numinous, is all around us, all the time. It is transformed by our deliberate attention. It becomes valuable when we value it.

  • Setting aside time according to my energies (the biological rhythms and patterns that determine when I have the best energy/focus for certain activities).
  • This includes honoring my pace and trusting [beginner’s mind].
    • This principle appeared several times in my reading and during conversations this week.

For whatever feelings are rising up, be gentle with yourself. Even if you don’t have words for them. Even if you feel like something is changing but you can’t quite figure out what, you are free to inhale, exhale, and make space for what you’re feeling.

  • Oracle cards are a part of my right brain planning practice. (Two of the cards I pulled this week.)
    • What do oracle cards have to do with right brain planning?
      • Braveheart, 🗣️messages of comfort, guidance and inspiration await us each and every day.
      • 🔎 Giving our attention to 👂 listening and noticing 👀 ensures we don’t miss ‘em! 😊😉
      • 📝📕📐 Having a designated space for chronicling these messages ensures we can refer to these bits of goodness again and again. (I compile a list in my my lunar cycle booklet.)
      • 🧩 These messages can be like pieces of puzzle as we live out the 🧮 details of our story unfolding. 🙌 Offering guidance and inspiration and answers to questions we have as we cycle like the 🌙 moon.

  • Sky meditations are part of my Sunday evening ritual.
    • This is a way for me to pause; to conclude my weekend and give my attention to the beauty of nature … ☁️🩶☁️
    • Sunday’s grey skies invited the use of filters to highlight and add dimension.

We don’t have to be perfect, just engaged and committed to aligning values with actions.
