[Create] the opportunity to embrace the richness or depth of something, which can be especially rewarding when the other things you are looking for seem at a distance. This is how you can grow in gratitude for the little things while you wait for the bigger things to make sense.
Morgan Harper Nichols
Somewhere along the way of my living I now realize the storyline I was hoping for failed to develop. My living took an unexpected turn; and in that turn, distraction led to becoming focused on a story that I didn’t desire.
During the past few years I have slowly retrained myself to live differently, because I was not created or equipped to thrive in such a storyline.
- More to the point, I choose not to live such a storyline, to exists within its faulty beliefs and strict, conditional life, “which represents not who [I am] but how [I was] conditioned to see life and make choices…” (James Hollis).
We all live out, unconsciously, reflexes assembled from the past.

“Having failed to bend the universe to our will the way the young imagine they can, we come to recognize our limitations, to confront our disenchantment, to reckon with the collapse of projections and the crushing of hopes.” -Maria Popova
Without some relationship to the cosmic drama, we are constrained to lives of transience, superficiality and aridity.
James Hollis
Braveheart, what is your current storyline? ♥
- How do the details of this storyline affect your sense of self within your daily life?
- Are you thriving — or just moving through, day-by-day?
- How do you think your current storyline affects [influences, alters, derails, facilitates] your sense of self?
- Do you track your storyline — your feelings (thoughts and behaviors)?
- Are you writing — expressing, listening and learning from yourself?
Having a system, a scaffolding of sorts, provides us with starting points + helps us to show up for ourselves on the page as we align our values with our actions.
