hope vs. powerlessness

“What we have named as anger on the surface is the violent outer response to our own inner powerlessness, a powerlessness connected to such a profound sense of rawness and care that it can find no proper outer body or identity or voice, or way of life to hold it. What we call anger is often simply the unwillingness to live the full measure of our fears or of our not knowing, in the face of [love]…” -David Whyte

  • Frankly, that “new freedom” mindset actually started for me in February, when I started to hold fast to hope and joy as a practice (even when that felt impossible).

Braveheart, I have been sharing from my journals for almost 20 years because I wanted to share how chronicling my life fostered glimmers of hope (and literally saved my life).

  • An act of self-compassion and love; the practice of being aware of our desires and needs, and learning to trust our pace through our phases and seasons.

Hope occurs within micro-shifts of focus and habits, and breath-by-breath.

Right brain planning is a way of listening and chronicling our answers.

  • It is a way to move [away from 😔😪😥 despair] and practice [being 🪄💭 curious] when it is time to move beyond our [Before] ⬅️⬅️⬅️ and ➡️➡️➡️ move into the appointed season and phases of our ➡️ [Next].
  • It is a way of 🪄💭 [envisioning] ourselves living what 🔁 matters most to us 🪄🦩💖 as we experiment with ✅ new habits and routines—jotting 📝 down the details of our 🪄💭 daydreams and 🙏🏻 wishes and our ❤️ want-to’s.
  • It is [a way to live] ✅ this day (and every single day) to its fullest capacity. 🫶🏻
    • Even if (especially if) we feel ❌ stuck, emotionally 🎢 swirly, “behind” or ⁉️ [without a sense of direction].
      • Braveheart, I highly recommend devoting some time with this thought experiment … 🪄🦩💖
      • After you do the thought experiment, re-imagine this day—imagine yourself just beyond yourself at this point of time in your wild and precious life:

Just beyond
yourself.

It’s where
you need
to be.

Half a step
into
self-forgetting
and the rest
restored
by what
you’ll meet.
