The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.
Anna Quindlen
Overwhelmed? Devoting attention + taking inventory of our days is a way to assess our time and energies (and avoid self-loathing).
An act of pure attention, if you are capable of it, will bring its own answer.

This morning I printed 🖨️ a new set of Basics art cards—page 6, Right Brain Planner Basics (Guide 1) and the Life Quad page on page 22 from that Guide.
- ✅ Doing so as a tangible reminder of my creative control; artful and tangible prompts to use as a reframe and 🏁 start-point for my pen-to-paper practice.
Everything we experience is merely data: information for discovery and reference, healing and empowerment.
[Failure] is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.
Denis Waitley
Frankly, I dislike the word failure because it is so very often misinterpreted.
A lack of success or timely action does not determine our worth or the possibilities available to us.
- Miss-takes and delays and miscalculations happen; we are not “less-than” because of said realities.
- Life goes on, and we have the capacity to decide on systems and sequences that serve us … but when we are in overwhelm we “forget.” 🙃

This card allowed me to resist distraction; first, I painted lines and then I added doodles a line at a time throughout that day. It was a mini-act of grounding and kept me focused: productivity through creativity
And sometimes you do everything right and something bad just happens. It’s as simple, and as scary, as that.

Braveheart, Life is like a roller 🎢 coaster: highs and lows and hairpin curves. And even in the best of circumstances we experience overwhelm. 💙
Learning to try softer is not a one time event but a way we learn to be with ourselves.

Trust your pace, Braveheart. Change takes time.
Self-devotion (the theme for June) is a reminder ♻️ to focus on the process of regaining our emotional footing in the midst of challenges.
- 🙆🏻♀️ This can be tricky. And yet—trusting our pace, knowing our priorities and being clear about our self-devotion intentions (desires regarding what we need) is a simple way of stabilizing ourselves. (And avoiding overwhelm.) 💙
Thank you kindly for your presence here, Braveheart. 💗
I appreciate your interest and support.

2025 Right Brain Planner theme is [Chapters 📖 The Magic of Your Story Unfolding]. I publish cyclical resources + quarterly guides with art and instructional content. ✨

⭐️ I am an artist and curator; I am one who communicates with color, found words and collage, inky marks and doodles as I cycle like the moon (as my calendar), chronicling oracles and abiding with the sky as a meditation.
⭐️ I host creative communities, safe spaces for gathering and sharing. I choose love and creativity for coping with the ongoing challenges of this world and I go to work—not because everything is fine but because I believe art heals.
❤️ Braveheart, as the Creator/Artist of Right Brain Planner I am ever-grateful to have the opportunity to share my creative work online + support other creators! 🎉 For almost 20 years I have had the privilege of sharing my art and writing about right brain planning while also hosting kindred 👭🏽💞👭 communities. ✨ I consider it an absolute delight to continue this portion of my creative work (even as I retire from full-time work).
- This is possible, in part, by {you} and your presence here. But also because of the support of my Ko-fi patrons and the other member/subscriber communities I host (via their presence, input and paid subscriptions). 🫶
