“Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there’s a tomorrow. Maybe for you there’s one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through your fingers. So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there’s only today. And the truth is, you never really know.” -Lauren Oliver
Braveheart, I have spent a lot of time and energy longing to revisit previous life phases and events since my children grew into adulthood and enlisted in careers that required they live in different states (and countries).
“Despair turns to depression and abstraction when we try to make it stay beyond its appointed season and start to shape our identity around its frozen disappointments.” -David Whyte
Despair turned into a profound depression as I started to shape my identity around frozen disappointments and shattered dreams.
But—my right brain planning practice [dated chronicles of expression] helped me to both move through + recover from a years-long depression—and to realize I have so-o much more to live! 🤸♀️
“The narrative you are living can be changed at any time because it is being written in real time—by you.” -Joseph Nguyen

Just beyond
yourself.
It’s where
you need
to be.
…
Half a step
into
self-forgetting
and the rest
restored
by what
you’ll meet.
-David Whyte-

“It takes extra effort and imagination to set those tainted visions aside and dream up a reality we’d prefer, not to mention explore the innumerable futures that are possible.” -Steve Lambert
🔺Kaleidoscope perspectives and 🪄💭 my imaginary worlds became the scaffolding of my healing—because everything 🌱🧮🎐🗝️🔮 first exists in our 🌐 imagination, Braveheart.
🩷 My imaginary worlds were a safe space during the most heartbreaking 💔 times of my life. My journal-planners were my way of processing my sorrows, coping with hardships and reminding myself that everything is temporary.

Braveheart, when we say we don’t know what we want … we actually do know. In fact, our restlessness and discontent are the first clues that what we desire is literally trying to get our attention.
The answers await our asking—followed by listening and chronicling.
Right brain planning is a way of listening and chronicling our answers.
Right brain planning is a way of holding space and chronicling time and envisioning our desires for the purpose of living more of what matters most to us.
- It is a way to move away from despair and practice [being curious] when it is time to move beyond our [Before] and move into the appointed season of our [Next].
- It is a way of envisioning ourselves living what matters most to us as we experiment with new habits and routines—jotting down the details of our daydreams and wishes and our want-to’s.
- It is a way to live this day (and every single day) to its fullest capacity.
- Even if (especially if) we feel stuck, emotionally swirly, “behind” or without a sense of direction.
- Braveheart, I highly recommend devoting some time with this thought experiment … ♥
- After you do that thought experiment, re-imagine this day—imagine yourself just beyond yourself at this point of time in your wild and precious life:
- Even if (especially if) we feel stuck, emotionally swirly, “behind” or without a sense of direction.
“You are a whole that exists to live a life, not half a life.” -Khalil Gibran
Right Brain Planner is a collection of lunar + seasonal prompts and journal-planning ideas to encourage self-compassion and review, reflection and expression, discovery and healing.
Braveheart, we learn by doing: we discover details about ourselves through chronicled observation 👀✍️📔 because everything we experience is data. 📊
Data is value-neutral; it is neither “good’ or “bad”—it is merely information to use for our choices, intentions and conclusions. Remembering this helps us to live free from judgment and shoulds.
