solstice (and season-change)

The psyches and souls of women have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul-place…

Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Braveheart, as we live the seasons of our roles and life experience, we begin to realize that wishes and jealousy are clues guiding us to live differently.

When we say we want something, anything [fill-in-the-blank] — we then must absolutely embrace the micro-movements and details of living differently in order to manifest our wishes and desires.

  • To live differently we must identify and evaluate the patterns of living that formed our existing habits and beliefs — and then begin to faithfully alter and rewrite as necessary.
  • The patterns, emotions and thoughts rooted in our past roles and experiences generously offer us foundations to add on to, reframe or (sometimes) tear down and build anew.

New seasons in nature are opportunities for us to step into the new seasons (life choices and stages) awaiting us. To live differently and shed old skins, to move beyond old limits.

It’s one of my theories that when people give advice, they’re really just talking to themselves in the past.

Braveheart, let’s self-compassionately give attention to our dreams, and then allow time and space for wonder and curiosity, wandering and wishing.

Let’s be attentive to reminding ourselves what has waited long enough.

Today (6/21) is the ☀️❄️ June Solstice — the season-change to summer (northern hemisphere) and winter (southern hemisphere). I invite you to set aside time this week for at least one 10-minute nap (set at timer if you need to) …

After a 10-minute nap, studies show that you become much clearer and more alert.

Just before you close your eyes … Ask yourself: [What has waited long enough? What do I need to release, decide and/or schedule?]

  • Upon waking, write down any words or imagery that comes to mind. (Even if what you write doesn’t make sense — write it down anyway.)
  • If no words (or image, color or feeling) comes to your mind — then write down the prompt [What has waited long enough? What do I need to release, decide and/or schedule?] as a means of sending out a signal 🔊💬 or prayer.
    • Revisit this prompt in 24 hours, and add anything else the comes to your mind.

Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.
