What if you and I agree to let go of the expectation of the “perfect way“ of journaling/planning—and simply started with pen-to-paper?

🤔 What if we practice letting go of ➡️➡️➡️ 1) the expectation of the 🙈 “perfect way” along with, 2) perpetuating the self-loathing 💢 outcomes of repeated cycles of 🔄 [try hard, give up].
- Because repetition is how we learn; there is no factual reason to shame ourselves when we experience starts and stops … 🧡
💁🏻♀️And while we are at it, let’s 🚫 definitely resist 😩 comparing our creative practice with Pinterest boards 😱 and artists 👩🏻🎨👩🎤🎨🖌️👨🏻🎤 on Instagram. Okay? ❤️
- This is what I have been 🔎 focusing on … and I am absolutely delighted 😁 with the current level of [freedom & creative expression] happening in my 🖋️✂️📏📝📚 right brain planning practice! 🧡
Care to join me? 😊 (I hope you will!)❤️✨
- 💢🔎 What ways can you reframe your expectations and shoulds? (Or simply identify them and then ignore them moment-by-moment?)
- 💁🏻♀️ What are your [what-if’s]? your limits? ➡️➡️➡️ Stuff that keeps getting in the way of you creating in the way you desire? 🌈🧡✨
- 💢🔎 What do you want to ➡️ track? ➡️ process? ➡️ express?
What if … You allow the month of May to host your [Day One experiments] and expression?
✅ The Right Brain Planning Basics Guide includes a simple template page offering you a monthly Life Quad prompt + color prompt + a theme and guide word + a dated line journal—along with white space to add your notations, doodles, collage or whatever serves you, Braveheart 💙
And I would love for you to begin using this page as a starting point experiment. 😊 Here is that page as a free download for May:
There is no need to resist your 😮 fear and expectations—simply acknowledge them and they will subside. AND next: “Try sitting down in the same place at the same time for the same amount of time every day and see what happens” (Austin Kleon).
The diary is the only form of writing that encourages total freedom of expression. Because of it’s very private nature, it has remained immune to any formal rules of content, structure or style. As a result, the diary can come closest to reproducing how consciousness evolves.

🦄 The monthly theme for May (in the Right Brain Planning Basics Guide) is [finding freedom].
This theme was inspired by the marvelous May Sarton:
“I am moving
Toward a new freedom
Born of detachment
and … learning to let go.“
💁🏻♀️ What if you begin moving toward a new freedom, Braveheart?
- Letting go of, 1) the expectation of the 🙈 “perfect way” along with, 2) perpetuating the self-loathing 💢 outcomes of repeated cycles of 🔄 [try hard, give up].
📙 My practice recently changed, and that happened because (after a bit of angst) 😝 I admitted to myself that I needed a more “structured” practice. ✅🧮🗂️📋🗃️
- More about that tomorrow … 😊
Thank you kindly for your presence here, Braveheart.
I appreciate your interest and support.
~love & good wishes~

⭐️ I am an artist and curator; I am one who communicates with color, found words and collage, inky marks and doodles as I cycle like the moon (as my calendar), chronicling oracles and abiding with the sky as a meditation.
⭐️ I host creative communities, safe spaces for gathering and sharing. I choose love and creativity for coping with the ongoing challenges of this world and I go to work—not because everything is fine but because I believe art heals.
❤️ Braveheart, as the Creator/Artist of Right Brain Planner I am ever-grateful to have the opportunity to share my creative work online + support other creators! 🎉 For almost 20 years I have had the privilege of sharing my art and writing about right brain planning while also hosting kindred 👭🏽💞👭 communities. ✨ I consider it an absolute delight to continue this portion of my creative work (even as I retire from full-time work).
- This is possible, in part, by {you} and your presence here. But also because of the support of my Ko-fi patrons and the other member/subscriber communities I host (via their presence, input and paid subscriptions). 🫶
