The Month of One {decluttering/simplifying online activities}

in minimalism,right brain planning

For this month’s series of posts, I am focusing upon baby steps to {a balanced} life: more ease — less stressing about what is not being completed. Allowing ourselves the opportunity to focus upon one element or aspect of our dailies in order to assign it as a piece to the puzzle of wholeness. Of creating a visual for what we “see” but that which feels daunting at times to achieve.

My primary focus for this {Month of One} has been:

  • combine/streamline {and edit} my daily tasks and projects
  • “appreciate” the progress of 15-minute work periods
  • the practice of exercising three steps: decide | declare | doing

Single-handling of situations, projects or relationships — opting for a concentrated focus — is something I used to resist. But as I make it my practice to do so, I continuously observe that progress is more accurately processed by the spirit than the mind. And to be reminded …

We are not behind.

We are precisely within the time frame set by our own one wild and precious life. The clock is ticking, that is true. But we are not behind … Our life certainly can-not “leave” without us!

“The tide will carry you.”

That is a phrase I have come to rely on when my mind {logic, reason} attempts to hurry me onward, to do more {and more}. Because I realize that my part of a whole is mine to give as I have grace. Not to churn it out as if I am manufacturing connections and relationships and project development.

My decision with regard to social media, online chats and networking was to streamline the sources of my collaborations. This week, I determined {declared and reminded myself of} the following guidelines of practice:

Solitude

  • Begin with reflection, allowing intentions to come into focus, and to be journaled

Intention

  • Relationship — it is not about the numbers
  • Collaboration — weaving in common threads of interest/values
  • Purpose and Value —post with intention {not because of obligation}

Interconnection

  • Frame it — connect the dots of what/where I am posting online
  • Simplify — added apps to my iPhone to streamline posting online
  • Conversation — connecting via various social media outlets

Separation

  • Time and Place — choose when to join the conversation; resist being constantly connected
  • Live in Real-Time — allow flow between what I am journaling {recording visually/verbally/blogging}
  • Abide — savor the moments; avoid simply cramming hundreds of images and files into digital storage

Solitude

  • Conclude with reflection, allowing intentions to be viewed on a continuum; interconnected

 [She] only earns [her] freedom and existence who daily conquers them anew. ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

As with all things, the details of online activities and practicing a balance between being “on” and abiding within the moments of our days is a process of intention and balance. There remain a few details I still want to add to this site, changes in formatting, etc. But I am contented and inspired with the progress I have made this week … Even in the midst of a finishing up work projects and beginning new ones, and preparing for extended visits with my eldest two children {and my grandbabies!} this month.

Less is more … It is liberating.

I agree with Mandy. This is absolutely full. Keeping this window open so I can dwell in the words awhile. <3

I’m thinking a “the tide will carry you” badge sounds nice.

As you wish, Magic Mandy. <3
