When you say “yes” to others, make sure you are not saying “no” to yourself. ~Paulo Coelho
There have been countless “yeses” to others that have run a course … some that concluded differently than I hoped. But also in a way that allowed me to know it was time to begin saying “yes” to myself. Lessons learned on that course revealed more about what I didn’t want — thereby clarifying what I did want.
And while what I want is taking a while … I am fine with that. Not knowing is liberating sometimes. This, this is one of those times!
We have to try to get rid of the notion of time. And when you have an intense contact of love with nature or another human being, like a spark, then you understand that there is no time and that everything is eternal. ~Paulo Coelho
When I get to that place where I am overwhelmed with the amount of passed time, when I wonder if what I am dreaming of will remain only in my dreams … It is my practice to cease striving and remind myself that {it} takes as long as it takes. And that resisting the ease is to become locked in a crazy cycle of “try hard and give up” …
What you still need to know is this: before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one “dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.”
~Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
Accomplishment is more about not quitting than it is about striving or “making it happen” and constant effort; it is more about mapping out the path to your destination and referring back to that map regularly — as often as necessary. And some days … all that is necessary is to fold that map, poke it in your pocket {or art journal ♥} and go with the flow, Braveheart.
