{another voice may speak}

by stargardener

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

— Mary Oliver

Note: I am patching a few words together today. MS symptoms {tingling; numbness; muscle weakness; imbalance; blurred vision} sit with me. Naming these symptoms empowers me to identify what my body is dealing with, and to decide what adaptations I will choose for today.

Peace to you, Braveheart.

I share your heart that we need to name what is going on – it isn’t always obvious or when it is we just ignore it, and there is some kind of deep nourishing love given when we name our pain.
I appreciate the simplicity of message – that you will keep choosing yourself and ally with yourself no matter what is going on.
That we could all become our greatest truth speaker and ally …
Peace in the midst of the difficulty, friend.

♥ Janae, I love your words. Thank you kindly.

… “ally with yourself” I have written those words in my journal just now.

Pertaining to naming what is going on within (or in our dailies) … I love quotations; and there are times when I search for the origins of words, in order to know their author.

So often “unknown” is cited with some of the most precious words … But we know that someone actually penned the syllables to the quotations that give us so much strength or inspiration, words of common sense and practical advice.

Thus, perhaps naming our challenge or struggle {Unknown} is enough for us to acquaint ourselves with it? To introduce us to a new stage of coping and acceptance, and possibly new adaptations and even ultimately, victory?

What inspiring words you added to that beautiful poem, both the note and the comment…
May you feel warmly loved and hugged through out today!

★ Rebekah, Rebel Extraordinaire! This day has reinforced my belief and practice of adapting. Adapting is not compromise but the ability to assess and maintain one’s place in the journey …. So blessed to have such warrior(esses) in my life!

{{{hugs}}}
this poetry is beautiful (how do you always find such exquisite words?)
and thank you for your comment about identifying your symptoms…i think many people want to not name something out of fear of it being worse or taking control…but naming your nemesis brings power, i think. like you said, it helps you know how to overcome him.

much love to you, sweet friend.

Rain, thank you kindly. I understand the struggle with naming certain issues in my life, or using particular words due to a belief that I will somehow be claiming “the unwanted” into my life. I have had so much time to ponder this naming thing. And I have concluded that in naming something, I am diagnosing the matter — thus better equipping me to seek a solution or adapt accordingly. This is a new place of victory for me. ;)

Taking this and holding it close. These are words I needed.
